Batley History Group

BATLEY HISTORY GROUP WAS FORMED IN 2010 BY MR BATLEY HIMSELF MALCOLM HAIGH B.E.M.

Since then the group has grown and continues to attract the very best speakers with a wide range of historical topics, be they local, national, or world history.

The group arranges a wide range of visits that always prove popular with members and non-members alike.

Meetings are usually held on the fourth Monday of each month at Batley Town Hall. Refreshments are always at the ready before proceedings start.

A committed committee works tirelessly to keep the group evolving, always open to new ideas and agendas, such as the implementation of the blue plaques which now proudly bear the group's name.

There is always something going on, be it an event the group has been allied to or the occasional film night, not to mention the Christmas Party where, our Chairperson Wendy insists on playing the festive ditties on her keyboard to get everyone in the spirit!

Special mention must go to Batley & Birstall RAFA Club, who continue to support our group wholeheartedly. They have kindly stepped in to hold meetings on the occasions when the town hall has been unavailable, not to mention proving to be fantastic hosts for the aforementioned Christmas Party.

If you haven't been before and have a keen interest in history, then why not come along and see for yourselves what we have to offer?

We can't guarantee anything but we can assure you that you will be given the warmest of Batley welcomes!
