PRESERVING OUR HISTORY

Batley boasts many a splendid building and Batley History Group have undertaken the task of marking their importance with a blue plaque

The first of the plaques bearing the Batley History Group name can be found on the former Taylor's Mill on Mayman Lane

The second of the plaques bearing the Batley History Group name can be found on the Zion Baptist Chapel on Commercial Street

The third of the plaques bearing the Batley History Group name can be found on the Town Hall in the Market Place

The fifth plaque bearing the Batley History Group name can be found at the Black Bull public house on Kirkgate, Birstall

The fourth plaque bearing the Batley History Group name can be found on the Carnegie Library in the Market Place

The next building set to be given a blue plaque is the former tram shed on Bradford Road at Carlinghow.


The choices for the buildings that were deemed worthy of a plaque were put to the members of BHG and we are working through their preferences. Watch this space....
